Behind the Creative
Joy has been seeking unique treasures and cherishing them since the beginning. She loves and appreciates the old & the new, the rusty & and the sparkly, the small & the GREAT . She can't help but see the beauty, value, and potential in the treasures that she finds. It was this fascination that led to a creativity that gave each of Joy's treasures "a second chance".
Joy has a collection as diverse and beautiful as a treasure chest ... full of trinkets, gems, buttons, wires, beads, broaches, chains and much more from across the world. Joy's father still recalls family vacations at the beach in which he always made sure to make some room in the trunk for the shells and beach glass that Joy would collect even as a little girl.
When she returns home from a market or shop with new found treasures she loves to admire each piece, dreaming about whose it was, where it’s been and what its new purpose will be!
Joy discovered her creative streak years ago and decided to get a degree in interior design. Today she and her husband run a high-end kitchen and bathroom remodeling company in which she is the head designer.
She has always proven to be crafty but it wasn’t until some unexpected inspiration in 2008 that she took a leap and decided to start making jewelry. Well, one thing led to the next and after a few new tools and skills, Joy found herself sharing and selling her admirable collection. As new treasures and inspiration came, Joy expanded her creations beyond jewelry and now has many lines. All of her creations are sold under the label "JOY Wilkins’s Designs".
